The Sugarplum Children’s Picnic – 20th July

I have emailed lots of you to talk about the idea of me organising a large children’s party in London , but which sadly, with so many other commitments over the next few months, I’m just not going to be able to organise anymore……..HOWEVER, instead, Ive decided to have the first Sugarplum Children’s Picnic at our house in Oxfordshire, on 20th July.

This date marke Aliena’s 2nd anniversary, and my husband and i would love for as many of you as possible to be there.  I will post the invitation and more details on the site later this week, but in the meantime, should you want to know more about it, please email me

One Month On – Pump update to come

Apologies for my silence over the past month or so – i have been wanting to update the site on at least a weekly, if not daily, basis, but there just seems to be so much going on at the moment, most importantly, Aliena going onto to an insulin pump.  I was so hoping to do a weekly update of how we were finding it, and i know its not too late, so will do a summary by the end of this week i hope.   But for now, i will say it’s been AMAZING – life changing.  Yes, ups and downs, but so so much easier than injecting her every time she eats.

And guess what makes it all so much easier – it’s PINK!!!!

Lots of other Sugarplum news to come……having to buy pump cases has inspired me to produce our won range of Sugarplum Children pen cases, insulin pouches and so on, so i will be in touch with everyone to get ideas and feedback, once I get the ball rolling. Initial meeting with production company is in 2 weeks, so watch this space.

The Sugarplum Fairy Godmother – YOU Magazine

Thank you to my wonderful friend Charlotte Methven, and YOU magazine, for the most amazing article about Sugarplum Children, and all that we are trying to achieve.  The response to the article has just ben amazing, from other parents in the same boat, or just peole wanting to say how moved they were, all of which is so encouraging, so thank you! Letter From The Prime Minister

I recently contacted the Prime Minister to let him know about the Type 1 Parliament day organised by JDRF, as he is my MP.  He sadly couldn’t make the event at Parliament but did take the effort to reply, and here it is – great to know David Cameron is aware of Sugarplum Children and the work of JDRF.  We will do all we can to keep type 1 research at the top of his agenda.
